Community Ministries
Gloria Dei Lutheran Church gives Glory to God through its mission work in our neighborhood (Neenah, Wisconsin), in our state and nation, and around the world. Gloria Dei partners with fellow Christians around the world.
Hephatha
Hephatha Lutheran Church, located in Milwaukee’s inner city at 17th and Locust, may be poor by monetary standards, but Hephatha is rich in commitment to God’s work. We have partnered with this Lutheran congregation for over 40 years, providing prayerful and financial support to those facing difficult circumstances of living in the inner city. Our partnership stands as a model of God’s intentions for people to relate in love to one another.
Church of the Wilderness
Church of the Wilderness, located on the Stockbridge-Munsee Mohican Band of Mohican Reservation near Bowler, WI, is predominately a Native American congregation. We partner with this ELCA congregation, providing prayerful and financial support. Church of the Wilderness incorporates Native American spirituality into its traditional Lutheran services to honor the congregation’s cultural and religious heritage.
Coffee house
Service and outreach to youth are important principles at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church’s mission. We live out this ministry at our weekly Coffee House. Coffee House welcomes youth from all walks of life to hang out together over hot food and warm hospitality. During the school year, Gloria Dei opens its doors to youth for a weekly gathering. We welcome teens into a safe space to eat, talk, get to know one another, and build relationships. The teens call it “Jesus food.” We kinda like that nickname!
Fox Valley Community Table
Fox Valley Community Table is an ecumenical organization that provides free, hot meals to anyone in need in the Neenah WI area. Meals are served from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm on Tuesdays and Saturdays at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 200 N. Commercial St., Neenah. Gloria Dei is an active member of this ecumenical organization working to feed the hungry of the Fox Valley, because “When I was hungry, you gave me to eat.”
God’s Work Our Hands
On the second Sunday in September, Gloria Dei rouses the congregation for a Day of Community Outreach. God’s work, Our Hands Day is an opportunity to serve others in so many different ways. Our service projects benefit at least 20 different agencies and nonprofits, including nursing homes, animal shelters, city parks, food pantries, and domestic abuse shelters. The one-day impact is astounding! We invited the whole, local community to participate. We truly make a difference in the community by serving the Lord through local outreach.
